For the Breast of Us is stepping into one of the toughest financial seasons we’ve ever faced. For years, DEI-focused funding has helped fuel the work we do for Black and Brown women impacted by breast cancer. But those funding streams are being cut nationwide, and the ripple effect has landed right at our doorstep.
And let’s just call a thing, a thing:
We’ve never had access to the same funding streams that some of the larger breast cancer organizations receive. Just like the disparities we fight against in healthcare, those same inequities show up in philanthropy too.
These cuts threaten the very programs that make this community what it is: a space built by us, for us, where our stories, our needs, and our healing actually matter. That’s exactly why For the Breast of Us exists: to make space where Black and Brown women aren’t an afterthought, but the priority.
Here’s what we’re fighting to keep alive:
- Baddie Boost, our monthly virtual meetup for survivors and thrivers
- Quarterly Baddie Meetups in cities across the country
- The Baddie2Baddie Podcast
- The Baddie Ambassador Program (advocacy & leadership training)
- The Baddie Blog (yes, the place where you’re reading this blog, that too)
- And of course… Breast Cancer BaddieCon
Every single one of these programs was created because Black and Brown women deserve community, representation, and culturally grounded support, not just during October, but all year long.
Your Support Is What Holds Us Up
We’ve pushed through on passion. We’ve kept going on grit. We’ve built this space with the belief that our community deserves more than crumbs from systems that weren’t built for us in the first place.
But belief alone can’t sustain the work.

Because that’s what this community does.
