The first time I read Harry Potter, I felt like I was immersed in a world that was so surreal, yet so relatable. Amongst the fantasy there were simple humans, with complex emotions that they were trying to work through.
Being newly diagnosed, it’s perfectly normal for you to have countless questions. Discuss all the available treatments with your oncologist, ask about all the pros and cons, and establish a goal.
I sat in her office completely caught off guard by the fact that she had scheduled an oophorectomy without any discussion. In fact, when I started treatment, no one ever mentioned any fertility options to me.
The calmness of the water reminds me everything will be ok. And the mountains remind me that while I’ve overcome a huge challenge in 2020, there are more challenges to come. Challenges that will grow me. Challenges that will make me stronger.
After a year of simply surviving, this year is focused on re-learning to love myself and all of my scars.
