5 Organizations That Help Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors Practice Self-Care

February is a month of love – from Galentine’s Day to Valentine’s Day, to every day in between. In the spirit of love, we take this opportunity to focus on self-care and feeling good about ourselves.

Here are 5 organizations that offer a variety of support and resources that could help you in your journey to recovery.

The Loveland Foundation – The Loveland Foundation brings opportunities for healing to communities of color, especially to Black women and girls. They provide financial support for those seeking therapy and mental health support, as well as fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more. The resources they provide are collaborative and prioritize the opportunity, access, validation, and healing.

Black Women’s Health Imperative – Women’s Health Imperative has been the only national organization solely dedicated to improving the health and wellness of Black women and girls. They run a number of evidence-based programs and campaigns to support physical, maternal and reproductive health for Black women. They are also leading the effort to establish the first National Health Policy Agenda for Black women.

HealHaus  – HealHaus provides diverse healing modalities and practitioners to provide people with an inclusive space focused on holistic health and wellness. They are committed to building a community that is dedicated to changing the stigma attached to healing, creating a safe space where healing is accessible, inclusive, and community-oriented.

Therapy for Black Girls – Therapy for Black Girls helps individuals find a Black therapist in particular geographical locations. Individuals can filter by insurance, area, and if virtual therapy is preferred. They also provide a guide to help individuals start therapy and a podcast.

Sista Afya – Sista Afya Community Mental Wellness focuses on inclusive mental health and wellness in four ways: mental wellness education, resource connection, community support, and  mental wellness merchandise, including journals, education books, encouraging cards, etc. In addition to therapy (live and virtual), they also offer low-cost in-person and online workshops.
